iThentic’s Tongue-In-Cheek Homage to 90’s Live Action TV Series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” Stars “Funny or Die’s” Mark Little and “The Bitter End” Dan Beirne

Beverly Hills, Calif. –September 30, 2014 – Starz Digital Media has acquired the “Space Riders: Division Earth” web series for its YouTube comedy channel “Union Pool.” The 13-episode, sci-fi-comedy parody, which spoofs 90s live-action TV series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” premieres today with new episodes airing on Tuesdays.

Produced by iThentic in association with Bell Media, “Space Riders” is written by and stars two up-and-coming comedy talents: Mark Little (“Funny or Die,” Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch in 2013) and Dan Beirne (“The Bitter End,” “Dad Drives).

“‘Space Riders: Division Earth’ is a great addition to “Union Pool’s” line-up of diverse, innovative and original content,” said David Katz, VP, Digital for Starz. “This series expands the web channel’s library of popular culture parodies, which generate high viewership.”

“’Space Riders’ is a tongue-in-cheek homage to one of TV’s all-time great franchises – ‘Power Rangers’,” said Jonas Diamond, CEO of iThentic and executive producer. “Mark Little and Dan Beirne managed to perfectly capture the feel of the beloved series, and developed ‘Space Riders’ with wonderful comedic results.”

The series follows two out-of-shape nobodies who are relegated to Division Earth, the lowest-ranked planet within the Galactic Ministry. Because defending this tiny world makes you the laughing stock of the universe, Ken (Little) and Philip (Beirne) work to protect it just enough to get a promotion. But when a case of mistaken identity throws them into the path of intergalactic super-villain Orson Ooze (Kayla Lorette) and the Vicious Mist (Mark McKinney), they must fight to save themselves and the planet.

The series is directed by Jordan Canning, executive produced by Jonas Diamond and Catherine Tait, and produced by Lisa Baylin. Kayla Lorette and Mark McKinney costar.

“Space Riders: Division Earth” is produced with the participation of the Independent Production Fund, and made possible with the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation.

Starz Digital Media launched “Union Pool” in September 2013 as a destination for original comedy programming. New episodes launch every Tuesday and Thursday. For more information about “Union Pool” or any of the upcoming productions, visit
